PHILIPS DVD-RAM SDVD8821 Writing Problems!

Hi guys I’m new on these boards and it seems that this board is highly recomended for the problem I seem to have so I’ll give it a shot as I’ve found no help anywhere else!

I bought an Acer Aspire 9424WSMi Laptop about 6 or 7 months ago. It comes with an in biult PHILIPS DVD-RAM SDVD8821. At first I had no problems and everything went great. Then one day after I inserted a dodgy dvd to watch my DVD drive went onto PIO mode and I searched high and low until I found the way to resolve my problem.

Since then I have a DVD burning or writing problem. Whatever you wanna call it coz it’s all the same. When I burn DVDs I get some kind of staggering on playback. This is something that didn’t happen at first. Also when I try to write a Data DVD 3 times out of 5 it will come up with a writing error which is clearly displayed on my Nero which I use for all of this and obviously I have to throw away the disk and try again. This is costing me a fortune in Blank DVDs!

Can someone please guide me as to how to solve my problem or what it may be. A friend said it may be a driver problem but that sounds wierd. Although I’m not an expert on computers so I’m not sure.

Please help me!

CG

Sounds like a “not-so-good” media problem.

Try with Verbatim & TY media.

So you don’t think it’s software problems or hardware problems then?

I’ve tried TDK Blank DVDs and SONY DVDs!

The TDKs used to work fine at the beginning!

CG

I can only guess from your info.

Please post an errorlog.

Sorry m8 but you’re gonna have o be more specific as I’m not the most computer literate.

Where do I get the error log from m8?

CG

When you burn with Nero save the log afterwards.

Ok Chef m8!

I’ve saved the error log but it seems it is impossible to either attach because of this message when I try: File Too Large. Limit for this filetype is 97.7 KB. Your file is 218.8 KB.

Also I can’t copy and paste onto the post because of the same reason I think.

So what I’ve done is that I’ve scrolled through the error log and I’ve gone to the part where it identifies the error. I’ll copy and paste that part onto this post. If you need the whole thing then maybe I can e-mail it to you m8.

This is driving me round the bend as I’m spending a fortune on CDs and DVDs!

Here goes m8ty:

So it isn’t my hardware then Chef m8?

I just burned a cd on iTunes and everything went well!

I’m wondering if it’s got anything to do with my Nero?
