Philips ccd3610 burner problems

Well I´ve tried everything I know to get the philips ccd3610 ide/atapi internal cd/rw to work… to no success!

System: Pentium II 233 mm, 220mb Ram, windows 98se

Updated firmware version 3.09…yes
Running windows 98se with latest aspi drivers from Adaptec…yes
Cleaned cd burner…yes
Latest Nero version…yes

Now I know that it is a cd burner that has many problems but I honestly just want it to work because buying a new one isn´t an option.

In nero it gives this message after a successful test burn and then when it begins to write this is the log message in full:

This: Power calibration area is full seems to be the error.

The power calibration is a part of a CDR, used by the CDRW drive to set the power for the laser.

This is a well known error for the 3610 drive of Philips. There are different causes for this problem:

  1. The writer is getting old and needs to be replaced (anybody remembers Transport tycoon?:p)
  2. The lens isn’t calibrated anymore
  3. The lens is dirty

If problem:
1 -> You’ll need to visit a shop and buy a new drive
2 -> Recalibrate the lens. How this process is done, you can find by using the forums search functionality (Mr. Beleverde posted this information quite some times)
