Hmmm … but why would they burn a 1.3GB image to those DVDRs for the benchmark when they can populate them with full 4.27GB of data?

Uh, PCmag fails to mention that the Pioneer and Memorex are the same drives, just rebranded :S. If there are differences, they are probably just software related. And the price they quote for the Pioneer (while it might be a RRP) is nothing like the street price, which is comparable to the Memorex. And personally, Ulead and Nero stuff is generally the best I’ve used, so Roxio can bite me :B. All this from the previous article mentioned by CDFreaks: http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/8144

Yeah, the DVD-RW and DVD+RW writing times just seem odd to me. For example the Memorex… 25:19 for DVD-RW and 7:16 for DVD+RW. Come on… 2.4x isn’t that much faster than 2x. I think PC Magazine needs to hire some testers who know what they’re doing. :r
