PC won't load or play DVD movie

This has never happened to me before.

I have (rented) an original commercial DVD movie (not a copy) that WILL load and play on all of my DVD players.

But, when I try to load and play it on either of my PCs, the media players (WinDVD and Windows Media) cannot load it or play it. :frowning:

I have two identical PCs, running XP and using a HPdvd1040 (reader-burner).

I tried MediaInfo, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. MediaInfo crashes, DVDShrink tells me there is NO DISC and DVD Decrypter gives me this error message. “UDFFinderPartion returned 0”

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a freeware program I can download that will read this DVD?

You can try VLC, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Thanks, I’m downloading it as I reply.

Downloaded and installed VLC.

Gave me an error message when I tried to ‘open’ the Disc (DVD).

"Your input can’t be opened."
VLC is unable to open the MRL ‘dvd://D:’ Check the log for details

I was unable to find ‘the log’

http://www.dvdfab.com/ If DVDFab can’t read it then I can’t think of anything else that might.
