I just obtained 2 SH-S203 drives (one SH-S203B, one SH-S203N). When both are connected, I cannot boot from the hard drive. (Hangs at blinking cursor, windows never attempts to boot at all)
I'm using the onboard SATA in AHCI mode. The motherboard is an ASUS M2R32-MVP. I am running XP Pro SP2. Besides the 2 SH-S203's, the only other drive is a SATA hard drive. (No PATA/IDE devices)
I have already tried swapping around cables, etc to eliminate the possibility of a bad component. The PC boots fine with either drive connected alone - it only fails to boot when both are connected. The AHCI BIOS does detect all SATA devices correctly. Both DVD drives appear to be in working order... both read DVD's just fine, haven't done any test burns yet.
Any suggestions on how to get this configuration working? I would prefer not to disable AHCI mode.
