I've got an annoying problem. Sometimes when writing a CD in Nero .35 the computer will just suddenly reboot. I've recently upgraded to an AMD 2400 XP and Gigabyte K7 Trton which uses the KT400 VIA chipset. I also have512mb 2700 DDR memory onboard.
I reinstalled XP and used the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers and put in a Nvidia 440 MX Geforce4 video card and installed the latest drivers for it.
Now it tends to reboot the PC more often than not when I try to do anything while it is burning, like opening another program. Or if I try to copy a CD from another ROM drive.
I am wondering if it is a power issue. I am not sure if it's heat related. My CPU runs at between 45-50c which although is a little warm is not too hot from what I can gather. The computer resides in a warm room during the summer.
My PSU is 300 watts. But I run 3 hard disks and 3 ROM drives off of it as well as the motherboard, cpu, video card, soundcard, raid controller, floppy. Could it be that the new motherboard and cpu etc suck just a little more juice than my previous setup so it cannot handle it when burning?
I have disabled auto restart so hopefully it will blue screen and maybe give some clue as to what is going on. Nothing in event log so...
