Whenever I put a DVD/CD into my DVD drive (currently a GSA-4163B) it just freezes windows up and I have to reset it. On occasions (about 1 in 3/4 according to my gf) it will not crash, but it seems to be more often than not.
I have tried it with another DVDRW drive (this is the second one) and same thing happens.
I have tried updating the motherboard drivers, tried a different IDE cable, recently cleaned out the fans inside so that the processor stopped getting too hot.
Can anyone help? No error messages are coming up and its really starting to do my head in now!!!
My setup is this
ECS P4M900T-M motherboard
Intel Pentium D 2.6Ghz
Maxtor 250gb SATA HDD
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS 512mb

Does it happen to all CD/DVD media you put into the drive? Did you see if you had loaded drivers for it from another program? Windows should be able to load its’ own drivers for the drive itself and you shouldn’t have to load any drivers. What O/S are you using? Is the drive firmware updated? What burner software do you have installed?
