Quality of the test.
PC CONSUMENT tests are at a level that quite some users here could do better themselves.Just fix drives and media. And if you have these then it allready might be nice to use more as one tester !!
(Oh I do think the old test was better even if they used the weird 32ecc aopen drive. Why ? it features the individual scores and the used writers for burning.)
In other results earlier test data is not taking into account when taking conclusions there only looking at the tested batch.
Now this might sound nice. However a few years ago PC Consument did a cd-r test and then they claimed you shouldn’t rely on a single batch test incase of cd-r media because (which I agree !) and now there doing it themselves with DVD media. While DVD media to me seems to have a even higher variance !
WHat they say that media with the same MID shouldn’t perform likely. DUH
No explanation is given for it not performing the same.
In a earlier test they named the options different quality being sold, or batch variation.
They used what can be found easilly in the Dutch stores.
TY has become rare. Still searching well would have gotten them Plextor.
Maxell - Maxell is quite rare. Also all spindled maxell is made by other parties.
Guaranteed maxell (PROTEC) - Is really rare !
Philips should not be working less good as imation. So it looks MBIL screwed up.
SONY made in …
IT should be japan or austria. Most likely Japan if these disc’s are still from the old batch.
Incase of Dual layer. The guys can only recommend CMC dual layer which works average.
Verbatim MKM is not recommended.
I’m sorry to say but maybe for these handfull of CMC dual layer good results. There are hundreths of posts on boards and better media tests which show that MKM001 is still the recommended dual layer disc in my opinion.
