I have a pc which refuses to burn without a struggle resulting in very poor burns, and slower than expected burn times. I have tried to diagnose the problem right down to a windows reformat without any luck, if anyone's able to suggest any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it.
The pc is a 2.8ghz, 512mb ram , Windows XP machine w/ASUS P4P800E Deluxe motherboard (which I'm beginning to think is the problem).
Both the Liteon 16X IDE burner and Pioneer 216 burn flawlessly on other pcs so I know they aren't the problem. Discs always burn about 60 secs slower than Nero predicts (however simulation's are always spot on time i.e. 4:29 at 20x). As a result the the burns are very poor with high errors at beginning and of the discs, quite often the burn pauses for up to about 10 secs at a time, and overall the pc seems to struggle to keep up to speed. However as I said I've tried the burners in a pc with the identical specs and there is no problem. I've currently checked that all IDE configuration is in UDMA 1-4 and in compatible mode, I've updated the bios and defragmented and finally formatting the drives. I'm using Verbatim media but MCC 03GR20 refuses to burn and fails every time at any speed, MCC004 is ok though, just slower and with more errors than on another pc.
I'm desperate to get the Pioneer 216 burning 20x at full speed like it's supposed to, so this is a last ditch before I fork out for a new motherboard if I can provide more info on my configuration please let me know.
Thanking you greatly for any help.
