Paper: disregard for customers, DMCA led to Sony CD rootkit

In a new paper examining the Sony BMG rootkit fiasco, a pair of lawyers argue that the music company didn’t just damage itself—it unwittingly struck a blow against DRM in general.

Good to see independent verification/substantiation of Sony’s in-general attitude of non-chalance toward the very consumers that keep it in business–not to mention it’s lack of proper quality control and lack of getting the right people to make sure something was done in the prescribed manner. It illustrates exactly Sony’s pattern of behavior in the 5.1+ million battery recall it created all by itself.

Excellent catch, platinumsword.
