Panasonic smart TV owners complain on Twitter that apps like Netflix and Youtube are no longer working due to a server outage. Although users are properly connected to the internet, the TV shows the message ‘Your TV needs an Internet connection for you to enjoy Apps and services’.

Well, I think it goes without saying: Panasonic has done quite a good job “[managing] the services that [they] provide.” Well done. Of course, if the apps were stored on the TVs themselves, there wouldn’t be any need to manage anything. Just install the software, and ship the product. I guess spyware is more important than reliability.
