Fledgling? In what way? Sanyo has been around since at least the 1970’s, that’s hardly fledgling.

Sanyo was incorporated in 1950. Yes, fledgling is definitely used incorrectly here.

I’m going to guess maybe he meant struggling. Shame, Sanyo made some very good Beta decks back in the day. My 7250 is still going strong after thousands of hours of use. SuperBeta HiFi for $320 before there even was a VHS hifi.
