Panasonic dvd recorder dmr-e50

I have a Panasonic DMR-E50. Recently when I try to record a program half way through it gives me that dreaded error sign.
Do you think it`s the software? Is there new software for this Box? I used to be happe with it.

I would say it is a media problem, try some Verbatim or TY media.
