Panasonic DMR EZ28 problem and RC 1 on the display

Hi all! first time here. I have a problem with my Panasonic dmr ez28 The problem started when I recorded a program and deleted it I couldn't use that part of the disk. The program would be gone but the disk space would be used and I couldn't use it again. Then I restored defaults and now all I get when pushing any button is FC 1 on the display.. Any help ?

From a thread at AVSforum:

[I]RC1 indicates that the recorder is set for operating code “1.” If the remote does not control the recorder it needs to be reset to code 1. Hold down the remote’s “1” button and hold down the ENTER button at the same time for several seconds. The remote will be reset to code “1.” The other codes (2 and 3) are reset in the same way.

To reset the recorder to another code one enters the setup menu to do that. After resetting the recorder’s code the remote is reset as stated above.

Thanks a lot worked perfect. Do I have to format a new disk the first time it is used?

If the disk is an RW dvd (one that can be used to record many times over), then yes, you’ll need to format it.
