Hi SLOVEHEART,

Do you actually own this player?
Could you please confirm how does it play BD-re media?

I had some problems with lower end earlier version of this player BD35 not being able to play most bd25 re media. I have one Verbatim BD-RE 25 that plays well. But I have tried other Verbatim media BD-RE25 that I bought from different sources and they do not play even though they have exactly same MID as my first Verbatim. It also will not play TDK BD-RE 25. But will play TDK BD-RE50. That is really annoying…

I also had some problem with ripped BD titles that use Java. That problem is described here http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=26359 . Could you please confirm weather you had that problem on BD80 ? It will affect titles like Dark Knight, Matrix1,2,3 , Harry potter.

Have you tried to play new LTH die disks on it?

Thank you.

Yes I do have this player, and first off I don’t have any problem with Java - I’ve played Dark Knight, Matrix 1,2,3. And for the issue of BD-RE I’m sorry but I do not use rewritable BD discs yet, I should to save money avoiding bad burns and decryptions, but I can’t tell you anything about that as well as LTH media too.

I will say that this Pannysuck player will not play any BD rebuilder full backups to DVD9, only movie only w/ strict AVCHD compliance box checked. So I got a Sony BDP-S360, and it is a great player, not only does it load faster, it has allot more video and audio options, I can go into this if you want, but it also plays everything I throw at it - even pizzas almost, J. Dobbs (mis-spelled) creator of BD Rebuilder has one and swears by it - there is a forum in www.afterdawn.com for BD Rebuilder, you can get some great info and responses there, allot of folks have this player - and love it, it is @ $179 or so from Buy.com as of last week. I bet the BD-RE’s would play on it, it is altogether a better machine!!! The panasonic does have a good picture, the Sony is very close - if not the same, (it has 10 or 12 bit color, x.d color and other video settings. Oh, the full backups to DVD9 pplay in 1080P/24P mode too on the Sony! And it doesn’t matter if the BD Rebuilder backups are DVD-ROM or DVD+R DL…

Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you, you can PM me too, that way I will get an e-mail about your message, instead of me rechecking this thread for responses…

Hope it helps…
