Are the new 6x Panasonic 25 GB BD-Rs as reliable as their older 4x version?

#2

Can you give an example product of the new 6x?

I assume that you’ve already had a look at the 6x scans posted in this thread: http://club.myce.com/f179/matsushita-electric-panasonic-mei-bd-r-sl-321135/

Lower LDC and BIS indicates a better burn which is expected to help with disc’s lifetime/longevity. Do keep in mind that the burn is somewhat also dependent on the burner used to write the data, not only the media itself.

Is this a correct analysis?

My reading of the 4x rated discs vs 6x rated discs is as follows:

  • 6x can potenitally yield better burns
  • 6x and 4x are insignificantly different compared to media from other brands

Someone do correct me if I am wrong here, but I don’t see it going any other way…

I’ve used both fairly extensively and agree with sengork when he says “6x and 4x are insignificantly different compared to media from other brands”.

They both yield very good burns and so far I’ve not had a single failure or disc corruption.
