Well if this help you… this are the discs I’ve been using or I used in the past (without 16x discs) + my opinion about them:

Fuji 8x DVD-R (PRODISCF01) - Max. Speed 12x
Fuji 8x DVD+R (YUDEN000T02) - Max. Speed 16x (Very Good)
Fuji 8x DVD+R (RICOHJPNR02) - Max. Speed 16x
Ricoh 8x DVD+R (RICOHJPNR02) - Max. Speed 16x (Very Good)
Verbatim Pastel 8x DVD+R (YUDEN000T02) - Max. Speed 16x (Very Good)
Verbatim Pastel 8x DVD-R (TYG02) - Max. Speed 16x (Excelent)
Verbatim Pastel 4x DVD+R (YUDEN000T01-00) - Max. Speed 12x (Very Good)
Verbatim 4x DVD+R (MCC002) - Max Speed 8x
Verbatim 8x DVD+R (MCC003) - Max Speed 12x (Very Good)
Verbatim 8x DVD-R (MCC02RG20) - Max Speed 12x
SmartBuy 8x DVD+R (PRODISCR03) - Max Speed 12x (Good)
Maxell 8x DVD+R (RITEK R03) - Max Speed 12x (Crap)
Maxell 8x DVD+R (MAXELL 002 - MIJ) - Max Speed 12x (Good)
Maxell 8x DVD-R (MXL RG03 - MIJ) - Max Speed 12x (Very Good)
TDK 8x DVD+R (TDK002 - MIT) - Max Speed 16x (Average)
TDK 8x DVD-R (TTH01 - MIT) - Max Speed 16x (Crap)
Sony 8x DVD-R (SONY08D1 - MIT) - Max Speed 16x (Average)

Note: Some other might have different burns with his discs… I only give a opinion to the one I got. Also there might be very big difference in quality between for example TDK002 Made in Japan or Taiwan.

Prodisc F01 overspeeding to 12X has, in general, given me higher QS than overburning MXLRG03.

Cheers,

Jie

Also for me… and by a lot. =)

MXL RG03

Prodisc F01

BTW. Those 2 scans are a typical example when QS is the same and one of them sux and the other is good. =)

#7

At 12X, I can never exceed 95 QS w/ MXL RG03, but 97 QS is achievable w/ ProdiscF01 @ 12X.

Try to disable WOPC =)
It also may be that this MXL RG03 disc was old about 6 months or so before I burned it… maybe the quality of MXL RG03 discs has fallen.

Yeah, it appears that the qualoty of Maxell media has gone waaay down hill in the past months.

#10

I noticed this when I bought MAXELL002 just recently… here’s the scan:

#11

Yep, that’s a pretty average scan of Maxell media these days. Pretty bad… :Z

Phillips 4x DVD+R (CMC MAG F01) - Max Speed 8x (Good!)
Prodisc 8x DVD-R (MCC02RG20) - Max Speed 12x (Poor, better at 8x!)
Ritek 4x DVD+R (RicohJPNR01) - Max Speed 8x (Very good!)
Taiyo Yuden Branded 8x DVD+R (YudenT002) - Max Speed 16x (Good, Very Good at 12x!)

Hmmm, I am going to have to get me some RICOHJPNR02’s. I can get them for 80cents a disk (ok for australian prices)
