I just posted the article Our iPad impressions: Not magical, still revolutionary.

Over the weekend, I took a big gulp of the Apple Kool-Aid and bought a 64 GB iPad.

“There was something sickening about the atmosphere at the Apple Store in Santa Monica, sterile and whitewashed,”

Kind of like those Scientology welcome centres where they give you your free IQ test and then try to open your eyes to the amazing world of Stev… umm, L. Ron Hubbard?

I’m still undecided on the iPad’s usefulness and potential. Many reports are coming in stating that it is very good at “consuming” content, but not so great at creating content. I suppose that’s good enough for the general population, but not for power users; writers, bloggers, technophiles, etc that also have a heavy focus on creating content. Nonetheless, I’m anxious to take an iPad for a test drive to see what it has to offer first-hand.

This much is true. I was able to bang out a draft of an article using the WordPress app, but even that has some limitations. I may pick up the $10 version of Pages, though, and I hear there will be apps for media editing (wouldn’t surprise me, anyway). I don’t have much interest in recording video or taking pictures with the iPad (that’s what the iPhone is for, and I’ve always got that handy) but it’d be nice if there was some more flexibility in the OS for managing files.

That said, I’m not convinced that any upcoming tablets will do a better job until I see it for myself.
