OS bootup issues

Hey,

i’ve just got a new 64bit laptop that came with Windows XP home. First thing i did was reformat and put windows 64 version on but now everytime i go to boot up before windows loads it prompts me to choose which os system to load!
Now of course if i select home it gives me an error message… this is really annoying as it should know there is only one OS on the computer and not continually prompt me to select. is there anyway i can make it to not ask me everytime i boot?

The laptop is an acer ferrari 4500 BTW

Cheers

Start --> Run --> notepad boot.ini --> remove line that corresponts to the “broken” Windows --> Save --> Voliá

If it says: “boot.ini cant be found - Do you wish to create one?” Then go Start > Run > cmd > from Root - type: boot.ini /ah. This will display the current boot.ini file. As DiiZzY said edit this to display the OS your using. You’ll want it to read something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=“Microsoft Windows XP Professional (replace this with correct OS Title)” /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
