Orwell was right!

It seems that privacy is something from the past, despite all action groups and ‘transparant governement’ claims…
I think it’s an urgent priority to convince our governements that their ‘secret’ and similar services need a dog collar again before they get totally insane…

secret surveillance wires :Z

Orwell was an optimist. :stuck_out_tongue:

It already is totally insane and very few people seem to care.

But if you have nothing to hide whats the problem here, you guys are all not thinking about security, if you have done nothing wrong they wont bother you, keep that in mind.

Any government that takes the time and effort to spy on every citizen, or have the ability to do so, is a government to be feared. Here in the USA our constitutional rights are being stripped away at an alarming rate. There are a few quotes attributed to James Madison that come to mind regarding government and tyranny that show he was wise beyond his time:

“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”

“The means of defense against a foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home.”

“If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be under the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

“I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. … The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home…If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be under the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I just want to say that we are all getting freeier?? by the day, getting freedom more and more every day. After all true FREEDOM is having nothing left to loose. If you have money (LOL) you worry about keeping it, if you have love you worry about loosing it. if you have a wife/husband you worry about pleasing her/him. if you have children you worry about how good you are in rasing them. now if you have an IDEAL you worry if someone will be offended. if you protect your home and family you worry if you will be call a raciest because he wanted your TV. Oh well, if you don’t have any of those things then you don’t have to worry. Ofcourse you still have to worry about getting enough to live by I quess

The FBI is not coming to my house, I am an old man with nothing to hide, as a matter of fact if they did come my house I would let them in and make them coffee, and tell them what a great job they are doing protecting me and my son, apologize to them for all the soldiers we lost protecting our freedoms, before Sept 11th I might have agreed but now we all have give a little to make sure the really bad people never get another chance to attack us on our mainland. They can read all my e-mails, all my posts, all my letters, look at all my bills. Ihat is a small price to pay for the freedoms we all enjoy here. jmho.

ofcourse you would say that in an open forum alan  very clever i like your thinking  lol

First, this is not against the FBI or any of our Gov. Angencies. But you say protect our freedom, ok what freedom? Alan1476being as old as you indicate you are, then you should remember when you could walk right up to an airplane and get on, how a mother could carry HER milk for her child anyplace in the country. You could and probley did leave your doors open at night time. you probley rode your bike all over town with your friends even at night time. you were probley trusted to be able to go to the sat. Matanee by your self. 911 did not only kill a lot of out people it took away our freedom to do what WE wanted when we wanted. they won

A few more good quotes regarding tyranny:

"The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant."
Maximilien Robespierre

"When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression no matter how holy the motives."
Robert A. Heinlein

"It’s not tyranny we desire; it’s a just, limited, federal government."
Alexander Hamilton

"Knowledge is power. Information is power. The secreting or hoarding of knowledge or information may be an act of tyranny camouflaged as humility."
Robin Morgan

You people should watch the latest episode of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. There’s a very nice speech in the end regarding information and how to handle it.

Orwell IS right!
Orwell IS right!
Unless he’s been acting like a dead man for over 60 years, Mr. Eric Arthur Blair kinda was.

It’s just a view of perspective.
