I find I am getting very frustrated. I have been at this now for 2 months having tried HP tech support, writing Toshiba, Samsung, TSST and various forums and still have no clear answers to my questions.
I am not exactly a novice as I have many years experience with desktop building and repair but lack the knowledge for laptops.
I have an HP Pavilion that came with a TSST L-532M. It's taken a nose dive and needs to be replaced. Until just recently all links to this drive were OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. However now that I have located the drive at a reasonable cost I find I am reluctant to go with this as my solution because of the hundreds of posts I have seen about problems with reading and writing on this drive.
I have an HP Pavilion ZD8460ea which I believe was assembled in the Netherlands. I know the system wants a slave as I have flashed the current drive with the firmware for the SDR6572M.
I really want to go with the Samsung S082H as a replacement however in order to make this move I need several questions answered.
The only firmware I can find for this drive is SB00. Nowhere does it state if this firmware identify this drive as a master or slave. Is there anyone who can tell me if this drive is a master or slave? If it is a master are there any options that would allow me to change it to a slave?
Since the S082H is a Samsung product and the L-532M is a Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology product I want to know if the bezels are interchangeable? From pics I have observed the bezel on the S082H looks as if it is completely straight and the bezel on the model of the TSST L-532M in my system is curved to match the contours of this laptop I fear that this could cause me problems.
Is there anyone out there who has hands on experience and can answer these questions for me?
