It hasn't been working in my laptop for a while. I'm running Windows Vista on an Advent Laptop. Like I said it hadn't been working for a while (code10) but I uninstalled and restarted my computer but then it failed to reinstall the driver for it so they must have been the problem all along. Could anybody help me download the drivers from somewhere or send them to me ? My email is [removed to prevent spam] . Thanks Dan

Have you tried following the various instructions here to see if they make a difference?
Did you install/uninstall any particular software right before the problem started?

there is no such thing like downloadable drivers for optical drives.
You may try if reinstalling the chipset drivers for your motherboard does help.
