Hi,
Im new here. I have a new Computer running Windows Vista, AMD Athlon dual core, 2 gigs of ram, it came with a Optiarc Ad 7190a, I’m trying to burn a dvd using windows movie maker and windows dvd maker which came with my system. The program says burning/encoding for anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 hours then when it reaches 98 percent it ejects the disk and says there is an error. I dont know what speed it is using specifically because the windows dvd maker program only has setting (fast, medium, and slow) I have tried all three speeds. I found a posting here (by smartdeep on Jan 4) stating similar problem but he was using something called nero 6. and when i tried slowing down as he did it still didnt work. when i read this i tried to download nero but vista said it didnt like nero 6. Here is the media information from DVD identifer:

My best guess is that i have junk for media. But i also want to know if it is really supposed to take almost 3 hours to burn a dvd. Please forgive me im new to this and really have no idea. This is my first attempt at burning any media.

Also i believe the drive is a slave not master.

Should i buy more expensive media first or try something else like changing slave to master, or buy new software for burning dvd’s. Or should i just get rid of Vista and go buy a version of XP?
