From another thread I posted in (sorry i copy and paste this in here, but I figured this was more appropriate in this thread):
“Hey, I have an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7580S ATA which is not working properly on my Acer Aspire 5737Z under the operative system Windows 7, 64 bit. It barely reads dvds, and even less writes. Could anyone please help?”
Hi, is it a Nec based drive ? More likely a QSI rebadged
What media are you using ? Have you looked for a firmware update (maybe on Acer website) ?
Unfortunately, I don’t know if it is a Nec based drive; it came with my Acer Aspire 5737Z, and I went into windows to find out the name of the drive, then used google. All searches did indicate it is NEC based, though.
As far as I can see, there are no firware updates for it either on Acer’s site, or for this drive at all, however, I’m not always the best for searching.
