I had a Samsung SH-S233C drive in my computer, which after about 8 months, has decided to not read any media whatsoever.

Tried with Windows 7 and Ubuntu on my computer, and tried with Ubuntu on another computer, still the same.

Anyways, I’ve found this Optiarc AD-7241S for £13.99 (Inc delivery and VAT) on Play.com.

Should I buy this drive, or is there a better deal elsewhere?

Go for it! :iagree:

The AD-724xS series are great drives, and that is an excellent price (especially bearing in mind that delivery is free). You won’t find it cheaper than that anywhere else. In fact I doubt you’ll find any other 24x drive cheaper than that!

SH-S233C is nowhere near in the same league as this drive, and I bet is more expensive too  An excellent choice in my opinion :iagree:

Already ordered it.

Glad I made the right decision.
