I just bought a remanufactured Optiarc AD 7200S on E-Bay, am trying to upgrade the firmware to 10.B from 10.A, keep getting drive not found, downloaded Nec Flasher, tried Imgburn, am getting nowhere. Help!
Have you successfully flashed another 7200 on the sata channel you have it connected to? AHCI or raid mode sata can sometimes be troublesome for flashing.
No I haven't but coincedentally I just recieved a Sata controller card. and cannot see anymore slots available, I just installed a graphic card and don't see any slots left.
Have you tried burning with the current firmware? Newer is not always better . Unless you want a specific feature in the newer firmware, I wouldn't worry too much about it. My favorite by far is Dee's 1.Z3 . 12x CAV DVD+R DL burning is pretty amazing with that drive . How many PCI slots you workin with?
2 External, (AD7241S , iHas624A), 2 Internal , ( Optiarc AD7200S, Lg Blu Ray WH12l530) , how am I to use 1.Z3? Current drive burns fine, what was the purpose of the upgrade ?
I only asked about the slots as I have no way of knowing what model/type computer you are working with. If you had an old modem or similar that you aren't using, could free up a slot for that card. Is that a PCI or PCI-E graphics card? Purpose of using 1.Z3 for me is simply to allow high speed/high quality DL burning on high quality DVD+R DL media like Verbatim MKM003's or Falcon Pro DL's. Dee found a 12x burn strat for the MKM003 MID buried in the firmware that Sony chose to make unavailable. She kindly made this option and a few other overspeed choices available in the modded firmware . This firmware will not work with all 7200's, unfortunately. Towards the end of the model production, they changed the boot code and those newer models won't flash back to the 1.06 firmware that 1Z3 is based on . The 7200's are the only drives I've been able to get outstanding quality 12x DL burns with like this:
Dean ,The card is a PCI, tried to download the 1.Z3, got Imgburn and message "Invalid or unsupported image file format". Thanks for the explanation, no big deal, as I rarely use DL disks.
What did you expect ImgBurn to do with your firmware file?
Apart from that, http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/ and http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/ are your friends
Is the graphics card a big improvement from the onboard video?
I'm completely mystified as to what Imgburn has to do with the firmware?
You are using binflash for flashing? The firmware file needs to be unzipped with 7zip .
Michael, I did not expect anything from Imgburn, it popped up when I tried the download, twice.and after I got the error message each time afterwards.
Odd. Perhaps some file association.
