Optiarc AD 5560A Problem - please help

Thanks Arachne!
As you know from the other thread, I am having trouble with
the Optiarc AD 5560A that came installed on this Dell Inspiron 1720.
I keep getting the message that it won’t start. I tried updating the driver, but it still won’t start. HELP!!!

Where are you seeing this error, in Device Manager?

If so, is there an error code number to go along with the message?

Also, what version of Windows are you running?

Sorry, yes-the device manager. Error code 10
The kids were trying to show me some kitten photos, so I got
temporarily sidetracked!

OK, give this a go…go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461...and follow the instructions (to the letter) to delete your upper/lower filters.

The instructions are fairly easy to follow if you take it slow, but you may like to set a system restore point before you start :slight_smile:
