I have Sony Optiarc AD-7240S and sometimes it is “lost” from my PC. I can not see its icon in My computer. I have to shut down, switch off the PC source and start the PC again. Finally I can continue burning. Has somebody such experience also with 728x?

This scan is for a burn on MCC 004 @ 12x from a new batch of Verbs (the last ones suffered inconsistent quality and burn rates needed to be ratcheted back from the higher rates I’d typically use):

Same new batch of MCC 004 but burned @ 16x:

Are these Verbs MII or MIT? Your 12x burn is definitely better than the 16x burn, but PIEs are still too high for my liking. Try burning at 8x if you can. Also, most folks here scan @ 5x with the AD-7280S; you might give that a try.

Thanks for the feedback/advice!

These are MIT +R verbs (TNR font on spindle - not sure if that matter anymore but I still look for those). All scans are done with a BenQ 1650 @ 8x. I will do an 8x burn when I have something to archive and I’ll post the result in here. Would be great if you could comment on it when I do!

Thanks again.

I’m anxious to see how they go at 8x. That does look like a batch that wants more gentle treatment :).

If you could add the media, burner, firmware, and burn speed at the top of your post, similar to jadburner’s posts, it helps us keep track of exactly what you’re posting for us. As this thread includes several burners, it would help to keep me from getting confused :bigsmile:.

Yes, I am concerned about this media as well. The last batch of Verbatim media wasn’t stellar either.

Sorry about not having been clear on the burner/firmware. The other info is there but it isn’t exactly as neat and tidy as it should be. I’ll use the popular format from now on.

Thanks for the info on the Verbs. My last several batches of both the -R and +R have also been sub-par. Sorry for not being more clear on the scanning - you might also try scanning the same burns with the AD-7280S at 5x. My DW1650 does not always scan as well as it should. Do try the 8x burn when you can - it might help get those jitter levels down too.
