One big 0 byte file!

I’ve come back to read a couple of CD-R’s I burned (Sony brand) with 1 big avi file on each disc and it won’t play them.

If I hex edit the file on the discs it shows 0’s all the way through. I can copy the entire file back to hard disk fine and a scan of the CD with CD Speed and it reports no errors. There was definitely data there when I burned it. Well the original file was OK.

Did Nero burn wrong and just create a file of 0’s?

What is going on?
