On-board raid and single drive

I have been out of the loop for quite a while. I have an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. Here is a link that has addition information about it.

I have 2 IDE HDDs on my primary P-IDE controller
and 2 optical drives on my secondary P-IDE controller

If I use the onboard SATA (not the promise chip) I heard that will interfere with the secondary P-IDE controller.

I am going to purchase 2 SATA drives and would like to know if I can connected them to the promise raid controller but not use raid… just use them as single harddrives.

I think that should work.

South Bridge:
-2 x UltraDMA 100
-2 x Serial ATA with RAID 0, 1
Promise 20378 RAID controller:
-1 x UltraDMA 133 support two hard drives
-2 x Serial ATA -RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, Multiple RAID

Hi
The Promise Drivers
You should have or be able to dl 2 sets
Firstly for you ATA drivers
Secondly for future ? RAID
I’ve tried both they work & now have 3 sets of hd raided 0
