a good friend of mine has just bought a DVD burner branded as OLIDATA (an European hardware seller which assembles other's products).
Now, the problem is that the drive is making coasters with some specific printable media (Prodisc S04 and Ritek G05) which my friend would like to use, since he has quite a stock of them. But we can't find anywhere on the web any info on the model or find any firmware upgrade (a new firmware just fixed the problem with the same media on my LG burner, so maybe....)
Looking into the drive code with DVDInforPro, he gets:
Model : DVDRW DRW-3S165
Firmware : CSG1
Looking the drive itself, the label says:
LiteOn DRW-3S16503C (Manufactured Dec.2004)
I could not find any info about this model, but I guess it's actually a LiteOn SOHW-1653S (also the "CS" prefix for the firmware suggests that, although the numbering is different). Also the 16x burning speed (and the other speeds) match the model.
What do you think, should we use the new CS0C firmware from LiteOn for this drive, so maybe the media are handled correctly?
