By mistake i flashed my Lite-On 52327S with firmware meant for another drive in my system and now its not recognised in windows, its green light is permenantly on and even the eject button no longer works. Is this recoverable or is it the end of the road for what has been the best CDRW ive ever owned ?

Many thanks in advance

Welcome to cdfreaks

The drive can be recovered by using MTKFlash :). See this guide in the Liteon FAQ at the top of the forum index.

Make sure you read this first:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=85712

This is the procedure I recommend:
1/ create a bootable dos disk. Remove all files except command.com, io.sys and msdos.sys (the system ones)
2/ download mtkflash 1.80 from http://dhc014.rpc1.org/howto.htm
3/ Add MTKFlash.exe to the disk.
4/ Get QS0E.BIN from http://dhc014.rpc1.org/Files/LTR-52327S_QS0Eb.zip.
5/ Add this to the disk.
6/ Select the jumpers on your drive for master and remove all other drives.
7/ Boot to the floppy.
8/ Type in MTKFlash 3 w /b /m QS0E.BIN. The 3 is secondary master. See the step 2 site for details.
