Office

Do you have (an) Office ?

Sure… I use:

Open office: everywhere I can use it (Windows & Linux)
MS Office: university (Windows)
Notepad: plain text editing (Windows)
VI: plain text editing (Linux)
Joe: plain text editing (Linux)
Edit: plain text editing (DOS)

My favourite? For plain text editing, it sure’s Joe; for real wordprocessing, OO!

Although i dont do that much typing as one would expect, i usually do it with MS Office. Dont really know why, maybe i am just too lazy to dl/use other editors, or maybe i just like the MS Office wizard :stuck_out_tongue:

Office (too bad Tax hangs around here too much  ), with secretary

Use MS Office

But other than that, nope

i use open office. I try not to use any m$ products.

openoffice / staroffice, depends on where i am.

emacs - just for viewing files without intent of editing

xemacs - mmmm, syntax coloring

eek vi, dee-ehn? i know other vi users…

Ahhhh…I just placed my order for a full version of Office 2003 Pro from Microsoft - 100% free and also legit

I should receive it in 5-7 business days.

And no, I won’t tell you how

As if that is such a big secret…
Be sure to read your license though…and you’ll see how legit it is…

What’s the catch? - i d like to check 0ff2003 for a while too

[Edit]

If you mean the Office Professional Edition 2003 Trial Software, thats not free (will cost more than 20E to be shipped down here at least), plus its only for 30 days …

A downlodable version would be welcomed

I use M$offence2000 for its autocorrect mainly. I have a huge library of shortened words to make typing quicker (e.g. ‘bc’>‘because’; ‘diff’>difference)
I also cut out all apostrophes e.g. ‘cant’>‘can’t’; ‘itts’>‘it’s’
I also have a lot of ingrained typos like ‘eht’ for ‘the’ which I just find easier to type.
~ if Open Office can do this then I might switch, especially if upgrades present me with a $/no$ scenario.

I dunno if OO can do this, but most probably, the answer is yes…

Besides that, OO has a auto-completion mechanism, wich makes typing a whole lot faster (can be compared with Excel’s auto completion). Great tool!

I’ve read the license, fully understand it, and it is legit.

Why would Microsoft directly send me illegal versions (or licenses) of their software ???

He means that it doesn’t have to be illegal what they send you, but you have to check the conditions for use… For example, you have student licenses, but they prohibit you to use the software under that license for commercial purposes (which is a very open definition).

Back in the days I worked in a computer store I often had commercial presentations of various products, including M$ products. On one of those presentations I got MS Office XP pro for free…full retail package…a few days before official release even.
