OCZ Vector SSD Review

Hi,

Here are some benchmarks for 2 x Vector 256GB in Raid 0, running as a spare in my Z77 rig.

System is optimised for benchmarking (CPU at 5100MHz; RAM at 2400MHz; speed step and Cstates disabled etc.) Driver is IRST 11.2. Stripe is 64k.

Scorching sequentials and 4K-64s :cool:

I need to try different drivers and stripe sizes (Vectors in R0 is still new for me)

Amazing sequential speed, read and write.
Scaling on 4k random write with increasing queue depths are also outrageous.
183.5K IOPS is insane.

I also noticed the RAID array has data on it as well, and it’s not an empty drive. :clap:

Can someone from myce post a screen shot of the SMART data from the version of the OCZ toolbox that they received with their review-sample Vector? (The version of the OCZ toolbox used in the review, 4.3.0.3740, is not available for download.)

I’m trying to make sense of the C6 and C7 values listed in the “Data” column. These values will slowly rise as I use the computer. If I restart or sleep/wake the computer, these values will decrease.

Hi Wayward and welcome to our forum. The reviewer that you are looking for is " DEE " , due to time differences I do not know when she will be logging on but she will answer your post for sure. Great to see new faces and again welcome.:wink: I am positive she can help you because DEE is our top reviewer and I would also be interested in anything she has to add. I haven’t recieved my Vector yet but mine is a retail from Amazon.

The toolbox that went to reviewers I believe was a beta, and I would think that is the reason that this version isn’t available to the public.

C6 is host reads in GB, and should not decrease, they certainly don’t in the toolbox.
C7 is host writes in GB, and should not decrease.

Perhaps there is something unique about the way Vector is presenting SMART data that only the OCZ toolbox can report correctly.

When I took this screenshot, the computer had been up and running for about 8 hours:

Note that power on hours also decreased.

It does seem strange that SMART values for power on hours, and host read and writes are decreasing.

My own power on value of 92 hours would seem about right as the Vector has been in and out of the PC a lot over the past few days. But to be honest, I haven’t been monitoring SMART values that closely.

I’ll keep an eye on this, and see what happens over the next few days.

I straightened out the OC on my Z77 rig last night and achieved some new PBs for 2 x OCZ Vector 256GB in Raid 0, as a spare -

In Windows 7 -

In Windows 8 -

All run with CPU at 5000MHz, IRST 11.2, Orom 11.0 and Cstates disabled.

Okay I just got my Vector, its a little slow but I did not optimize it yet.




I just read the review. It seems that the Vector is by far the best in the MyCe Sustained Performance test.
