The Everest 1 and Everest 2 controllers used in the latest SSD's from OCZ are not entirely developed by OCZ and Indilinx. Though they carry the Indilinx name, they are derived from Marvell hardware. The Everest 1 is based on the Marvell 88SS9174 controller seen in older drives like the Crucial M4 and Intel 510, but the Everest 2 may be based on the new Marvell 88SS9187.
OCZ claims the Everest 1 is not identical to earlier renditions of the Marvell hardware and has been tweaked for more performance. And both controllers use custom Indilinx firmware.
