can anyone tell me why these are SO expensive ?! even a 2-to-1 switcher is $170 (5-to-1 for $250) thats the price of an HDMI dvd player i know that its a digital to digital signal and that they probably have to work w/ the HDCP group to get licensing (and codes to pass forward/backward to/from the player and monitor, but still, if i can get a hdmi to hdmi cable for $10 and an hdmi to dvi cable for $10 (even though monster wants you to pay $110), why does a device such as this - thats so simple cost SO MUCH?

A good question, I think I am going to find out for us.

that’s why I buy all my cables and such from monoprice. http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10106&style= 2 port HDMI switch with IR Remote = $100 4 port HDMI switch with IR Remote = $139 then they have a 2 and 5 port with EQ coming out the end of the month. Their cables are high quality and dirt cheap too. Also I don’t work for them, I just buy my networking/USB stuff for my company from em. I can’t comment on the quality of these switches either, don’t own any

It is expensive because it is new technology and not mass produced, good old free market economy will change that if there is demand, which there is. I don’t believe there claim to clear up the picutre, it is like sharpness on a TV, it makes the picture worse.
