No, the two HDs are on one channel and the DVD drive is on the other The firmware is 2.18. I will update it to 2.19, and see what happens. I have used four different media with exactly the same results (at the same speed), so I doubt this has anything to do with the media.
I was reading some test reports on the 3500 and it seems my burn time is always 25-30% higher than what they claim the 3500 they tested did.
These are the media I've been using lately:
Verbatim 16X Super Azo I used the last one of these I had last night. They come back as MCC 004. I have never had the slightest problem with these discs.
Fuji 16X silver Can't seem to find one to check right now, had one coaster out of 25 pack, and that was my fault.
Verbatim Printable white top, purple underneath. These also show as MCC 004 and work great. I got 100 of these cheap and they are the best deal I've gotten for blanks lately.
Last and certainly least, Ritek Silver/purple, show as Ritek G03. These burn at only 4X and seem to fail either just before the end of the burn or they don't verify. It seems like the supply of them never seems to end! I'm very unhappy with these discs, about 20% fail. Got them cheap, but if you factor in the hassle, and the 4X burn speed (they burned at 8X before the last firmware update)it wasn't all that great a deal.
I'm totally stumped. Reinstalled Nero recently, no change, tried a couple of others that I had and they seem to share the probem, so I'm guessing it's the drive itself.
