Norio Ohga, "father" of the cd format has died, aged 81



Norio Ohga was a former president and chairman of Sony corporation. He was head of the company from 1982 to 1995 and was a driving force for the adoption of the cd format, and was a major influence on the cd’s size and capacity.

He also oversaw the purchase of Columbia Pictures, which made Sony a major player in the motion pictures industry.
