1st i want to excus myself for my bad english

i got this dvdrw for over a year now never had any trouble burned over 100 dvd always worked fine never had any touble reading any type of cd dvd …

LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160p6s thats my dvdr

for about a month my dvd completly stop reading some dvd or cd even original movie or game … i can only read some dvdr maxell an some other i forgot the name but my big problem is it completly stop reading my tdkdvd an i got over 40 50gig of fammily pics movie etc on them … i google it for about 4 hour trying to find a way to fix it but no luck … i finnaly found this on cd freak forum sticky

Drive seems to work ok, but it doens’t see any writable media

In most cases, the cause for this problem is quite easy to be found: an ATIP hider is installed on your system. As some copyprotections check if the disc they are running from has an ATIP (part of a CDR(W) where disc information resides), programs like CloneCD come with an ATIP hider, to hide this ATIP from the system, making it possible to run backups. By disabling this ATIP hider (sometimes called “CDR media hider”), your problem will most probably be gone.

any 1 can point me to some forum on how to disable this ATIP hider or try to help me

thanks for your time

Simply, completelly uninstall emulating software like Alcohol* (*= whatever model and version).

Messing with the innards of the drive is the worse you can do.
I still have 16y+ cd burner running (for some games backup) that I never cleaned. Suggesting actions like theze on a 1 y old drive is kinda exaggerated, (kindly said).

igotballzofsteel, not knowing what OS you run (I’m sure though you don’t run Linux) please put your drive in a firends compu ant save “family pics” to a HDD and then reburn to DVD’s.

When everything fails use google and look for apps able retrieving data in DOS mode.

Same media behaviour when using nero cd dvd speed with them?

Could you also try in SAFE MODE?

#17

Right-click on CloneCDs tray icon, uncheck “Hide CD-R media”, then end tray.

Im not really good in computer not sure how to start in safe mode but i just try 1 of those not working dvd in nero discspeed 4 an i got this error

error!
INVALID FIELD IN CDB (052400)

i dont ave clone cd an i desinstalled all emulation software but it still dont work …

Uh you can start in safe mode by going either f8 or f11/12 dureing start up. you know as soon as the computer is turned on eg: bios splash screen. just tap f8 and f11 a little bit. and you should get into a boot menu of sorts just highlight safe mode and click enter.

if your data is really very important you and notthing is working. you should be able to pick up a lite-on or sony (i think they’re the same but re-branded) Dvd-RW at staples for 30$.
