Nobody seems to know the answer... *rolling eyes*

I’ve asked many times this question and nobody has ever answered:

Does the Plextor 52x NonPremium have the same components as the Premium one?

I ask this because I would wan’t to know wether the NonPremium can do newest SafeDisk and SecuRom like the Premium does. And also to know if there would be a slight posobility of flashing it to a Premium with a special binary that supports NonPreimum’s 2MB instead of the 8MB buffer that the Premium has.

Any answer (good) will be recompensated with a porn picture  hahaha… (just kidding)

plextor NOpremium (52x) does not have the same components as the plex premium.

the plex premium has somethign called variarec, and blidnwrite uses the variarec technology in such a way as to reproduce 1:1 copies of securom. the plex 52x does not have this as a result it can not produce 1:1 copies of securom. on top of that all plextors have a problem with readin twin sectors, as a result u cant install a twin sectored cd with a plextor so securom is out of the question for a nonpremium.

secondly, plex premium and nonpremium can burn safedisc 2.8 and under correctly, but it cannot do 2.9 and up correctly.

at the end, buy a plex premium and look for a drive that can do safedisc correctly.

Not exactly true, some premiums can and some can’t

I already bought the NonPremium one because the other one was too expensive. It doesn’t matter if it can’t do everything. Thanks for the info.

This is not true, the VariRec (audio recording) technology is also found in the PlexWriter PX-W5224TA. The difference between the Premium and the PX-W5224TA is that it has GigaRec support which, to my knowledge, is what BlindWrite uses to defeat SecuRom.

You are right about the VariRec. Dunno about the SecuRom thing. I also DO know that it doesn’t have GigaRec or SilenceMode.
