No Audio In .AVI Sample

This leads me to believe there is no audio in the movie file. I’d like to post a screenshot because of all the info in GSpot, but I can give the highlights here…

That’s it folks, hope it gives a clue why no audio other than it has “failed”.


DirectShow is having a problem with playing the audio, maybe because it’s Dolby AC3 and possibly you don’t have such a codec installed on your PC?

It’s unusual to find AC3 audio in an XviD encoding; normally it is MPEG1 Layer III (.mp3), but I guess it should play if you have the appropriate AC3 audio decoder.

That was exactly it. I only assumed that the 20 or so editing programs I have should have at least come with all the codecs I would need…
