What usually is the media code on these:Office Max: TDK 16x +R 100 packs, $ 19.99. I’m running low and normally buy TY or Verbs. But no sales on them near me. So, I’m wondering about the TDK’s. Any good?

#5

I’d say don’t bother, Memorex owns them now I guess so the same makers and quality.
It’s getting harder to find any quality media at BM stores these days and I think the Verbatim’s are the best most folks can find locally.
I bought 100 2 weeks ago and another 100 a few weeks before that when the good ones were on sale at Office Max.
I remember when TDK used to make some excellent media but I think those days are now gone and they are TDK in name only these days.

Actually Imation now owns Memorex - TDK

you’ll most likely get CMC MAG AM3 -R or M01 +R (not sure on the + I use -)
I have gotten some TDK - R that were RITEKF1 that actually burned fine
The -R are less of a crapshot as the AM3 and RITEKF1 both burn fine for me
and the M01 are horrible in my opinion.

I think i’ll try and snag some sony +R at kmart
thanks for posting the deals again Dalen

I think I’ll hold out for a week or two and wait for the verbs @ OfficeMax , hopefully they’ll be back on sale in a couple of weeks.

Most of the new packs of TDK +R “Life on Record” with power gray top are Ritek F16. The last pack I bought was total junk. Yet to get a good burn from that pack. I have beter luck with Ritek F16 in Ridata brand.

Thank you Dalen

Thanks Dalen,

These are in slim jewel cases and are actually 32x max. My store still has the MIJ, which are TY.

Thanks for the info, afecu!

I checked out those Maxell at Walgreens. In my area they are 52x MIT in slim jewel cases.

I’m a little annoyed that Staples isn’t having any sales on Verbatim media… I have a nice $20 coupon I’d like to use and they have sales that are crap-- no wonder their stock price is taking a hit lately… not that I track such things… but flipping through the channels the investors were taking the stock (at the time) out and shooting it… but Domino Pizza was doing gangbusters… too bad we can’t record on those… lol

#17

As far as I know, Staples doesn’t even carry Verbatim!

Ritek F16 tends to be very variable. I’ve had some decent batches:

Yep. Staples and Office Depot don’t carry Verbatim. You’ll only find it at Best Buy and OfficeMax.

You might wait until one of them has a sale, then try using your coupon as a “competitor” coupon. Often, they will accept it.

The burns on either are nothing special… but they are acceptable for cheap (Giveaway) media.
