It seems a lot of the newer DVDs give me errors when I use DVD Shrink, I’m not sure if this is due to copy protection or what. What do you guys think? I’ve never had trouble burning stuff until the newer stuff and without DVD Shrink, I can’t fit it onto a single DVD, at least not that I know of?
DVD Shrink hasn’t been updated for about 2 years so it cannot handle all the new copy protection that they use now. I suggest using “Ripit4Me” along with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. It’s free and works really well. You can download it here.
Make sure you download the installer (in red) and that you have the newest versions of Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed first. You can get them there also.
RipIt4Me and DVDFab Decrypter both handle newer copy protections, so alot of us simply use those to RIP the entire DVD to the hard drive and then use DVD Shrink just to process the already ripped content.
The RipIt4Me / DVD Decrypter / FixVTS combination works great. Many folks already have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter already installed, and if you then go to the RipIt4Me download page:
and download the Installer version, it will install right over the top of those programs and work with them. It will use the DVD Decrypter engine to do the actual ripping, and FixVTS to do after-rip clean up and can then open the ripped content in DVD Shrink for you.
DVDFab Decrypter, a separate app, can be used to rip the content to the hard drive also, and then you can open that in DVD Shrink and mess with it if you want. That can be downloaded here:
So anyway, even though DVD Shrink may not be that good for decrypting new disks, it is still good at processing if you rip the disks with other apps first.
