Hi I have TOSHIBA ODD-DVD SD-R5272 (DVD+RW:8x/4x, DVD-RW:8x/4x, DVD-ROM:12x, CD:32x/10x/40x DVD+RW/DVD-RW)
I have been using memorex 8x with no problems at all.
I bought some Memores 16x and they will not work at all.
I thought the disk would slow down and work.
I just thought you couldnt put like a 4x disk in and expect it to burn at 8x.
but I could burn a 16x at 8x or am I just totaly wrong

Actually, you are correct StoneyVK. Media can be burned at a lower speed than it is rated, but never should be done above the stated speed.

My guess is that the firmware of your drive is simply out-of-date and still doesn’t support the media. Check the Toshiba website for a firmware update and see if that solves the problem.

If not, it may also be “bad media” that you acquired. Every once in a while a “bad batch” is produced and you may have received the raw end of it. Try out OTHER 16x media and see if that works. Good luck.
