I’m a newbie here and I just picked up an NEC ND-2100A (Dell OEM). I have been reading other posts here on upgrading the firmware for this DVD writer.

Will someone take the time to explain what I need to do “in detail” to accomplish this task of upgrading the firmware? I just installed it yesterday and my Nero 5.5 recognized it.

I built this thing below out of an old Gateway “90mhz” full tower so I think I’m able to understand most of the stuff I might be told. I hope so.

Thanks for any help, greyno3

In all honesty, if your not too sure how to flash the firmware in your drive, and the drive is working fine then it would be best left alone.

You should only upgrade the firmware if the update fixes bugs that are stopping you from using features of the drive or it adds stuff that you can’t live without.

Remember, flashing your drive can go wrong and leave you with a duff drive. So only do it when you have to.

Hey greyno…

Go to the NEC forum in this site for your answer or do a search in the NEC forum and you might find your answer there.

Thanks for the info. I don’t think this is a Dell oem. It looks to me like a HP oem. Am I right?
