Newbie needs help

I’ve already made multiple backups of my personal DVDs, but there’s a couple I just can’t decode them. I’ve tried various software programs to help me, but none of them seem to work.

I have DVDfab Platinum 4, 1Click DVD Copy 5, DVD-Cloner V, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD2one V2, CloneDVD2, AnyDVD and DVD Region+ CSS.

I’ve tried many things and I still keep getting these messages that they won’t read Protected DVDs.

Can anybody give me some advice on some new software or am I doing something wrong ??

Are these backups of commercial dvd’s that you own? Please provide an example (name) of one that is giving you problems. Maybe throw in some computer specs, including OS, just for good measure

Which dvds are giving you problems? Are you trying to make a complete backup, or are you just getting the main movie?

The latest beta of AnyDVD should be able to decrypt most any dvd. You can find it here:

DVDFab HD Decrypter should also work. It is the free section of DVDFab5. You can find it here:

Make sure that you are updated with the latest version of anydvd. They keep coming out with new protections, and anydvd keeps breaking them. Maybe try ripping with anydvd (right click the little fox in the tray and there should be an option along the lines of rip to hard disk).

A good example of the DVDs that are giving me problems is “Return of the Dragon”, “The Dark Knight (Batman)”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” and others. These are DVDs I bought legally in a retail store. But I really need to make backups because I live in Puerto Rico. The weather here is humid and hot all year long and this affects the DVD.

My OS is Windows Vista. I do have 160GB of harddisk, 2 GB of memory and also I have 3 external harddrives of 150GB each.

Sometimes when it start the process of making the backup, the computer “freezes” the process. It just stops.

Make sure you have the latest DvdFab HD Decrypter & you could use the following option. Posts #67 to #74, but please read Post #78 & ask any questions here.
