Newbie Needs Help, Errors with Nero6

Hi Folks,

Very green Newbie here! I have no trouble burning to single layer DVD, but I cannot burn to Verbatim DVD+R DL using NEC 3540a, and ISO or FILE rips.

Would be most grateful for any help. Here is my log from Nero.

First thing I notice is you can update your Nero Express to 66016 at least.

#3

Thanks Quema34,

Will give that a shot and let you know how I get on. Since posting, I’ve also found that I can burn to SL using DVD decrypter (last version release 3.5.4.0) in ISO write mode.
But again as with Nero no joy with Verbatim DL.

#4

I’m a bit concerned that no devices show up in SCSI device map.
Would this be causing the problem?

Again, any help would be grately appreciated.

#5

@ Dilsnik
yes that is a bit funny. Do they show up in Nero infotool? Can you post a Nero Infotool output? Run the tool, then click the diskette icon in the infotool toolbar and save as a .txt file, making sure all 8 boxes are checked. Attach to post using the ‘manage attachments’ button in the ‘go advanced’ reply window.

#6

Thanks for the response please (great nic!),

I’m at work at the moment but will post the infotool as soon as I get home. Also noticed (in a state of deep despair) last night that all four devices on primary and secondary IDE channels (in device manager) are showing current tranfer mode as ‘non applicable’. Weird.

#7

Please, got the infoTool output;
Doesn’t look good, no devices recognised on IDE channels. Your help is most appreciated.

Rgds,
Dilsnik

Your using Generic IDE Controller Drivers. Update the Drivers to the ones supplied on the Motherboards Disc.

IMHO - There is a lack of proper communication between the System and the Unit. The Unit is recognised by the System (probably thanks to BIOS) but the drivers seem to be sending invalid commands.

#9

You’re right pollushon,

I think I’ve cracked it. I had the drive hooked up to IDE3 which for some reason made the drive show up in the RAID utility in the MB BIOS. Switched drive to IDE1 and now drive is recognised as IDE (Transfer mode = UDMA2 in device manager). Just tried a burn with 2.4x Verbatim and had some success, nearly perfect, but now I have a different problem (fail at 2.4x.txt). Just upgraded Nero to .16 gonna’ give it another shot. Just so happens that I need some new coasters  .

Regards,
Dilsnik

fail at 2.4x.txt (8.98 KB)

#10

@ pollushon
Nice call

@ Dilsnik
Your devices are still not being recognized in Nero, and your ‘current transfer mode’ for HDD should be ‘UDMA5’. Make sure your HDD are jumpered properly as 'master ’ and/or ‘slave’.

click here to download via hyperion 4in1 v4.56 (chipset driver) if it wont help then also get the ide acclerator driver click here

#13

Thanks for your analysis guys,

My HDD is SATA, should it still show up on the IDE channels? Each of my MB IDE connectors are capable of ultra ATA 133, so should I be getting UDMA6?

Currently my HDD is set to master (SATA) and DVD set to master (IDE).
How would I go about achieving UDMA6 for the DVD drive?

Just burnt (onto DL) an 8gig iso rip in about 20 minutes at 6x. Does this sound about right?

P.S. Can someone edit out my Nero serial :o

Thanks again.
Regards,
Dilsnik

#14

Thanks phil,

Gonna’ give those a shot now.

Regards,
Dilsnik

#15

i think it should

the transfer rate is depended on several factors

  1. the drive itself (you cant make a drive run any faster then its hardware allows)
  2. ide cables see this thread
  3. bios dma settings

you wont , as said above

i suggest youll pm one of the moderators bout that (Hemispasm , philamber , G@M3FR3@K , FutureProof) dont forget to mention its in attached txt file and in post #9

you welcome

#16

Learning quite a bit tonight

No joy with those drivers, still UDMA2. IDE accelerator wouldn’t install properly ‘This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)’

IDE cable is an 80 conductor one (cheers for the link, gonna check bios now). Has anyone achieved more than UDMA2 for an optical drive?

Regards,
Dilsnik

#17

i wouldnt say “no joy” you didnt install them for higher burner udma (which isnt possible) , incase you forgot you installed em so the ide controller to communicate with the burner properly as your nero log showed it didnt , try to burn again , as for the ide acclereator if you see it in add/remove list uninstall it if not then uninstall it manually by right clicking it in device manager and clicking “uninstall”

your drives hardware supports maximum UDMA2/ATA33 its impossible to go higher than that its drives hardware depended as alredy said at previous reply , sure some ppl have “achieved” more then UDMA2 for optical but only cuz their drives supported it most optical drives are UDMA2 (except few recent plextor/pioneer/liteon dvd burners that are UDMA4)

#18

All sorted. Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Dilsnik.

#19

Nice job phil_ and pollushon  . I made an error before :o . I was under the impression that Dilsnik was getting UDMA2 with a HardDriveDisc  . That would have been bad. But he was getting UDMA2 with his burner, and that is fine…sorry for the misread and misinformation…my bad :cop:

20 minute burn for an 8GB session at 6x burn speed sounds about right. Glad to hear you got things sorted out…a hearty “nice job” to you, too Dilsnik

#20

Again [B]Qema34, please, phil, and pollushon thanks for your help, time, and effort.
