I am currently using Nero 6.6

Any help is greatly appreciated like I said I'm a newbie and don't know much.
Thanks again

Several things are apparent.

Firstly I suspect that the DVD-R media you’re using is poor quality.

Secondly you’re using DVD-R media & Nero is trying to set the booktype to DVD-ROM. This can only be done with DVD+R media types , including rewritables & dual layer. It’s purpose is to give greater compatibility with standalone DVD players.

Normally this errors with a different error when it tries to do this but I suspect this is the problem.

I’ve seen this a few times in the past , with this particular Nero version I think, and there are several things you can do to cure it.

I hope this is understandable & useful.

  1. You can set Nero to basically do nothing. That’ll be in the Burning ROM, choose recorder option. Select your burner & click on Options. This should display Book Type options. You can try Automatic, physical disk type or current recorder setting. If it’s already one of these the switch to one of the others.

  2. Reinstall Nero.

  3. Update Nero to 6.6.0.18 or 6.6.1.4.

6.6.1.4 is the latest available on Nero’s website but it uses a lot more memory than 6.6.0.18, a link to which can be found somewhere on this forum.
