Hello,

I have an ASUS DRW-20B1LT, with firmware 1.01.

I need to burn DVD+R DL but setting the book type to DVD-ROM, and reading the forums I realized that it’s not possible with my writer… So I would like to change the firmware of my writer and turn it on a different writer that is able to set book type to DVD-ROM…

My problem is: I have no idea of how to do this.

I saw another thread where someone did, and I would like to do the same.
http://club.myce.com/f44/really-flashing-asus-20b1lt-liteon-ihas220-259906/

I tried to find this 8L07 firmware of LiteOn but all i found was the 8L06n firmware (for this IHAS220, from the LiteOn site), and I couldn’t even use it because I don’t know how to apply this firmware.

Can someone help me please? How I do it? Please point me to some tutorial or any explication material I can read at least!

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance for your help!

Ha!!! I made it!

(After spending all the night googling) I managed to turn my asus DRW-20B1LT into an iHAS220 and now I finally am able to set the damn book type!!!

I used the firmware 8L08 from here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html
and these programs: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities.html

1º - Backup firmware with Flash Utility
2º - Extracted the .bin file from the 8L08 firmware using XFlash Utility
3º - Updated my drive with the 8L08.bin, using the Flash Utility

Now my drive is faster and furious!!! Look like everything is working like should!!!

(I’m posting here again just because it took me lots of hours, even googling, to find a way to do it… I tried some other ways to flash it and was kind of hard to find the firmware file and a working way to do it… Maybe if someone have the same problem that I had, this person can just look here!! Also, I know I’m very newbie and this is very obvious to almost everyone here in the forum, so please, dont blame me
