Newb ?: Does Herries 1.07 Beta Firmware include riplock increase?

Uber Newb with a dumb question…

I can’t find a Revision History for Herries 1.07 beta firmware, so I am trying to find out if this firmware (Beta 8 or 9) makes changes to the riplock settings.

I would like to flash new firmware that both:

  1. Increases my ripping speed.
  2. Alters the bitsetting for 6-8x burning.

Does this firmware do this, or do you have to choose one or the other (riplock vs. bitsetting)?

I’m trying to decide between:

  • Herries 1.07 beta8 firmware
    or
  • TBD 2500R106

ANY suggestions/help would be much appreciated. I’m still learning the ropes, so if I’ve made any mistakes in my assumptions, please let me know.

I have a 2500a and am burning Sony 4x DVD-R.

Thanks.

Use Herries’ beta9a firmware
The firmware increases write speeds, has bitsetting support, adds support for more media, is RPC1 and has the ripspeed lock removed.

i would advise agenst useing this firmware.
it has loads of problems.

i would advise he uses 1.07 beta7 it is region free and 2x limit removed and has good media support.

will do your standard G04 @ 6x and DVD+R`s at 8x will good results.

beta9a has massive 8x and 4x burning problems on dvdR+ and DVD-R
